Photos of items for sale at the Trading Post BOONE BRAVES NOW HAVE A PLACE TO SHOP Boone Braves – past, present and future – can show their school spirit with apparel and special items that are available at The Trading Post, a new store created and operated by parent volunteers and located on the William R. Boone High School campus. “We felt that creating a store at the school would be a great way to build community spirit,” explains Yolonda Huhn, whose daughter is a Boone junior. “It is our goal that the store will provide the community an opportunity to purchase spirit items and raise much needed money to improve the school’s athletic facilities.” The Trading Post, situated on the school campus next to the Freshman/Sophomore cafeteria, features popular merchandise that includes 100 percent cotton t-shirts with distinctive Boone logos, warm sweatshirts and sweatpants, beautiful cotton throws featuring the famous Boone Brave Indian, fashionable gym shorts in a variety of colors, original Brave jewelry and eye-catching orange and white golf umbrellas. The store also features products created by Boone students, including the reproduction of an original color pencil drawing created by Boone senior Alex Ray. Alex transformed the exterior of The Trading Post building to resemble a log cabin. “The mural that Alex created is a welcomed addition to the Boone reservation,” stated Joanne Fleming, a parent volunteer with three children at Boone. “When you visit The Trading Post you feel like you are walking back in time and truly shopping in an Indian outpost.” “It is exciting to see how popular our school’s merchandise is becoming,” continued Mrs. Fleming. “We have seen many alumni and future Boone Braves come to buy t-shirts and other items to wear to the different sporting events. We also have great gifts ideas for Mother’s and Father’s Day, graduation or any other special event.” The store is open to the public Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. and Wednesday 10:00a to 11:30a and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Special store hours can be arranged by emailing yohuhn@cfl.rr.com or jfleming@thechristschool.com |
